Often, when we write here at Straight Talk about how fast innovation and technology move in healthcare, we are talking in grand, sweeping terms about multi-billion dollar investments and really earth-shattering inventions.
It turns out REALLY important healthcare innovation work can be done on a local level, and it’s something we can all use and be proud of.
To recognize these innovators, the Baton Rouge Area Chamber (BRAC) and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana created The Capital Region Employee Health Innovation Award. This award recognizes companies in the Greater Baton Rouge area that implemented and promoted innovative practices that led to healthier and more productive employees. A small business and a large business category were created to honor this important, local work.
Blue Cross and BRAC presented the first of these awards on Tuesday, Sept. 10, to Labarre Associates in the small business category and The Lemoine Company in the large business category. You can read more about why they were selected for these awards.
Since roughly 9 out of 10 of us who have health insurance get it through our workplace, I think it’s a worthwhile effort to commend and highlight those employers who have crossed new boundaries in trying to create a healthier, happier workforce. I personally want to applaud BOTH BRAC and our team at Blue Cross for their efforts! Not to mention Labarre Associates and The Lemoine Company for making things healthier in their workplaces.
